    District Rampur

    1. District Profile Rampurzilla is situated between 78-0-54 and 69-0-28 east longitude and 28-25 and 29-10 north latitude. It is spread over an area of 2367 sq km in Moradabad division of Uttar Pradesh state. It is bounded by District Udham Singh Nagar in the north, Bareilly in the east, Moradabad in the west and Budaun in the south. The height above sea level is 192 m in the north and 166.4 m in the south. Located on National Highway 24, the state capital is 302 km to the east and the national capital is 185 km to the west. It is well connected by railways and roadways.
    2. About DistrictRampur is a city and municipal headquarters of Rampur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It was formerly known for its various industries, including sugar refining and cotton milling. Its library has more than 12000 rare manuscripts and a good collection of Mughal miniatures.
    3. Culture and Heritage Urdu Poetry After Delhi and Lucknow, Rampur is considered the third school of poetry. Many prominent and famous Urdu poets of that time like ‘Dag’, ‘Ghalib’ and ‘Amir Meena’ joined the patronage of the Rampur court. The Nawabs of Rampur were very fond of poetry and other fine arts. They used to provide labor to those poets who were associated with the ‘Darbar’. Nizam Rampuri earned a lot of fame as a poet. Apart from this, Shad Arifi was another famous poet of Rampur who developed the modern ghazal in a different style. At present, international poets ‘Shahzada Gulrez’, ‘Abdul Wahab Sukhan’, ‘Tahir Faraz’ represent the Rampur School of Poetry all over the world.
    4. Architecture Raza PuskalayaThe small house fort, now known as Raza Library The rulers of Rampur have had a distinct influence on the architecture of the region. The buildings and monuments indicate the presence of Mughal type of architecture. Some of the buildings are very old and have been rebuilt over time. One of the most well designed monuments is the Rampur Fort. It also houses the Raza Library or the Hamid Manzil, the former palace of the rulers. It houses a large collection of Oriental manuscripts. The fort also has an Imambara. The Jama Masjid is one of the finest pieces of architecture found in Rampur. It somewhat resembles the Jama Masjid in Delhi and has a beautiful interior. It was built by Nawab Faizullah Khan. It has a unique Mughal touch. There are many entry-exit doors in the mosque. It has three large domes and four tall minarets with gilded pinnacles that boast of a royal touch. It has a high main entrance gate with an inbuilt clock tower with a large clock which was imported from Britain.
    5. Vyanjanonrampur is located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is recognized for a variety of top industries such as sugar refining and cotton milling. The famous Rampur Raza Library houses over 12000 extraordinary manuscripts and an excellent assortment of Mughal paintings. The place is also widely known for making sharp knives. The delicious cuisine of Rampur including Dudhiya Biryani and Ginger Halwa is another major attraction for every traveller. The most notable Rampur attractions are Jama Masjid, Raza Library, Rampur Tara Mandal, Gandhisamadhi, Koti Khas Bagh and Ambedkar Park.
    6. Rampur Jama Masjid Jama Masjid built by Nawab has many entrance-exits. These gates are the main entry-exit routes of the city. Examples are Shahbad Gate, Nawab Gate and Bilaspur Gate etc.
    7. Music The Rampur-Sahaswan gharana of Hindustani classical music also originated in court musicians. Ustad Mehboob Khan, a khayal singer and veena player of the Rampur court, was founded by his son Ustad Inayat Hussain Khan (1849–1919), who trained and lived in the city.
